Server was down for a bit!

April 11, 2012 in Uncategorized

Ugh… Growing pains I guess… Sorry that the site was down for awhile today!  Time to upgrade servers!  Apparently you all REALLY wanted to be on the site today.. there were over 100 people at one time trying to view the site and it crashed the Apache server.  Also, I have used over 725gbs of bandwidth last month Yikes!

The site should be up for now and the upgrade is in progress.

The upside is that I might be able to host my own product files and put in an in-house shopping cart! w00t!

For another note, Vote on the Poll to the right so that I can get started on the next series for the website!

This video will walk you through fattening up a recorded Kick drum.

This video was inspired by “bolenti” on the Reaper Forums.

Customer Testimonials

——————————————————–
“I have received this DVD and it’s excellent! It shows you stuff you’re going to need to use and how and where to download them. The information is clear and concise and nice and slow not rushed. It gives you a chance to follow along with your own DAW open. It really helped a beginner like me. Takes you right through to mixing.
I can’t wait for the MIDI version tutorials to come out. I will be a buyer for that one to…. I would recommend this for anyone who’s not quite sure on how to start and finish a project all the way through. Excellent DVD!” – Ron from Massachusetts
———————————————————
“I just finished watching your Real World Recording with Reaper DVD and I must say.. that the money I spent on your DVD was more than worth it. Your DVD cleared up the problems I was having…particularly in mastering.
Your DVD helped me see how “Real World Recording” is done! I can’t wait for your MIDI DVD.” – Robert from Texas
———————————————————-
“I recently bought the “Real World Recording” DVD for Reaper, and I have to say that this is WELL worth the money!
This takes you step-by-step thru setting up headphone mixes, routing, track comping, and more, in an easy to follow way, and in the setting of a real world tracking & mixing session.
The delivery style is unhurried, like a friend is taking their time guiding you thru all the little steps it takes to get Reaper working smoothly….and for a deep/convoluted program like Reaper this style of course is LONG overdue!
But the biggest winner, IMHO, is that the only effects / utility plugins that are used are the native ones. Because of this I have finally learned what some of the JS ones do! LOL Add to this that there is a good collection of FX Presets that are supplied to get ya rolling, and you have a good course that will get you up to speed in no time (well the course is over 4 hours, but you know what I mean…)” - Jim from Ohio

December 19, 2010 in Tutorials

I’ve been wanting to post this video for awhile now… FINALLY I’ve gotten the time to get it on the site.

Tune Vocals with ReaTune | Manual Mode | Create Harmonies | Reaper Built-In Plugin

December 19, 2010 in Tutorials

This video has been requested a few times from people so I it was time to post it. The requests were mainly for the “Auto-Mode” but to be honest… I don’t recommend using ANY tuning plugin in that fashion. Anyways, I’ll show you how to manually tune a vocal with ReaTune and also create a harmony out of a lead vocal track in this video.

Enjoy!

Vocals with Reverb | Direct Monitoring or Software Monitoring

December 19, 2010 in Suggested Buys, Tutorials

Over Christmas I did a lot of recording with my family in their studio using a M-Audio Delta 44 and Mackie 1202-VLZ3 Pro. It was a ROCK SOLID setup!  I kept the interface buffer at 1024 and used the Mackie for direct monitoring.  I used the “Inserts 1-4″ off the back going into the 4 1/4 inch inputs of the Delta 44.  If you are interested in this setup let me know and I’ll help you set it up.

One of the issues we needed to resolve was getting reverb from Reaper back to the singers headphones.  This is actually a lot easier then you think… There are 2 ways to do this(that i can think of).

Option 1
1. Set audio buffer all the way down.
2. Create vocal track – Enable input monitoring and record enable
3. Create Reverb Track
4. Send audio to the Reverb Channel
Done

Option 2 – for direct monitoring solutions(ie USB)
1. Set Audio buffer to whatever works best
2. Create Vocal Track – Record enable
3. Create Reverb Track – Record Enable + Monitor Enable
4. Right click the Record button on the REVERB track and set it to “Record Disable”
–The reverb channel will have a latency of whatever your round trip latency will be. SO if you are running at 1024 you might have a latency of ~35ms… So I would recommend NOT putting “Pre-Delay” on te reverb plugin.
Done

Looking for a Kick Drum Mic? | AKG D112 will do the job!

August 9, 2010 in Suggested Buys

Hey everyone! I’ve been doing more and more live audio lately and the AKG D112has been my mic of choice.  Its only about $250 and it gives you all the punch, attack and depth that you would expect from a kick drum.  Although I’ve been using it for live audio, it would be a great mic to start using as an alternative to my favorite combo setup, which is the Sennheiser MD421 on the inside and EV RE-20 on the outside.

Looking for a great live and starter studio vocal mic? Shure Beta 87A

August 7, 2010 in Suggested Buys

Recently I’ve been having a lot of experience with the Shure Beta 87A.  The venue that I book shows at and run sound for have this as one of their main microphones.  If you haven’t used one I’d highly recommend this for your main vocal mic for a project studio.  It is probably the only “live” mics for vocals that I would recommend for studio use(except for an Shure SM58 for screamers).
